January 9- 13, 2017

In Reading, our next story will be “Farfallina and Marcel.”  In this fictional story, we’ll read about a caterpillar named Farfallina, whose best friend was a gosling named Marcel. They did everything together until one day, when everything started to change.  We will be studying the literary element, plot.  In Phonics, we’ll be focusing on the letter Ff and it’s sound in the beginning and final position.      
In Math, we’ll finish Topic 4: Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-10 and start Topic 5, Numbers to 20.  We’ll practice counting, reading and writing the numbers 0-20.  Please practice counting to 100 and writing the numbers 0-20 at home.  We had several students who met their Math goal last week by counting to 100!  Keep up the great work!    

Due to the 4-day week last week, sight words were not tested.  They will be tested this week.

January Reading Logs were sent home last week.  If anyone did not receive one, please let me know.  Remember, the goal for the month is to read 15 books.  Any student who reads 15 books will receive a coupon for a free pizza from Pizza Hut.

January book orders will be sent home this week and are due Tuesday, January 17th.
