December 12-16, 2016

In Reading, we’ll continue with Unit 3, Changes All Around Us!  Our next story will be Little Quack.  In this story, Little Quack's brothers and sisters splish, splash, and splosh their way into the pond behind their mama but will Little Quack join them?  In Phonics, we will focus on the letter Rr in the initial and final position of words.  To go along with the letter of the week, our theme will be Reindeer!  Our literary skill for the week will be plot.

In Math, we’ll begin Topic 4: Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0-10.  Please practice writing these numbers at home.

The NED Show visited NSE today!  Everyone really enjoyed the show.  The yo-yo sale will be held Dec. 12-16th.  Please remember, this is our way to “pay it forward” so another school can enjoy the show.

If you forgot to send in your book order this week, please either submit it online over the weekend or send it to school on Monday.  Monday is the deadline.

A handout that highlights some of the major points of the school dress code is being sent home today.  There have been a lot of issues with the dress code this school year so we’re hoping that this handout will clarify some of the confusion.  Students who are not in school dress code will be sent to the office.  A few points that I would like to stress are no cargo pockets on pants, no leggings as pants, and no logos on shirts.

The Brain Show will visit our school on Thursday, December 15th thanks to our wonderful PTO!

As the chance for a 2-hour weather delay increases, I want to remind everyone that weather delays are still a rotation day!  There will be special!

There are a lot of students who can’t put on their coats independently and/or can’t zip them.  Please practice this at home!  It’s hard to get ready for outside recess or prepare for dismissal when I have so many students who need help.  Thank you!!!

December reading logs will be collected after we return from Christmas break (January 3rd.)  The goal for each moth is 15 books!  Any student who meets the goal gets a certificate for a free personal pizza from Pizza Hut!
