November 9-13, 2015

This week we’ll finish learning about the consonant Tt as in turkey, turtle, and tent.  Please continue to practice all of the letters that we’ve learned at home!

In Math we’ll continue with Topic 1, Numbers One to Five.  Our essential question is “How can the numbers one through five be counted, read, and written?”

In Reading, we’ll finish reading, “Dig, Dig, Digging.”  Our essential question will be “How do machines help people work?”  We will discuss the literary element, classify and categorize.  We will continue to practice Sight Words.  Be sure to watch your child’s folder to see if they are moving on to the next word list or if they need to continue with their current list!  Sight Words will not be tested this week due to the Act 80 day and our Field trip.

Thank you to all of the parents who attended parent teacher conferences!

This week we’ll have two dress down days!  On Thursday, students may wear jeans to school for “Jeans for Troops,” and on Friday, students may wear jeans for “Dress Down for Lyla.”  If students participate, we ask that they make a donation of at least $1 each day.

The North Schuylkill Jr. Sr. Student Council is sponsoring the Feed A Friend project to help less fortunate families in Schuylkill County have an enjoyable Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.  In an effort to help those that are in need, I’m asking that each student bring in one non-perishable item to donate to the Feed A Friend project. Donations are due Monday, November 17th.

Please sign and return your child’s report card envelope as soon as possible.

If you weren’t happy with your child’s school photo, retakes will be done on Nov. 18th.

Friday, November 13th will be the Kindergarten Field Trip!  We will be going to the Pearl Movie Theatre in Frackville to see “The Peanuts Movie.”  Students are asked to wear the red and blue North Schuylkill shirt that they were given by PTO.

The 2nd Annual NS Coat, Hat, Scarf, and Glove Drive and Give-A-Way will kick off November 2nd!  Please, clean out your closets and your neighbor’s closets and Donate, Donate, Donate!!!  Let’s all do our part and make everyone a lot warmer!  Collection will be from Nov. 2nd-Dec. 4th.  Give-A-Way will be in the NSE cafeteria, Dec. 10th (4pm- 7pm) and Saturday, Dec 12th (10am-2pm.)
