In Math we’ll finish Topic 15, Position and Location of Shapes. Our essential question is “What words can be used to describe the position and location of an object?”
In Reading, we’ll begin our next Reading story, “Smash Crash.” Our essential question will be “What do you like to do with your friends?” We will discuss the literary element, character. We will continue to practice Sight Words. Be sure to watch your child’s folder to see if they are moving on to the next word list or if they need to continue with their current list! Sight Words will be tested again on Thursday, October 29th.
On Friday, October 30th, family and friends are invited to attend the school-wide Fall Parade. This year, this parade will be held at Spartan Stadium! The parade will begin promptly at 1:30. Another change for this year is 6th grade will lead the parade and Kindergarten will bring up the end! Students will parade in front of the HOME side bleachers.
Students should not wear their costumes to school on Friday. Please send your child’s costume to school in a plastic bag. When planning your child's costume please avoid blood and other gore. We ask that the costumes aren't too scary and please keep anything that can be considered a weapon at home. Try to keep costumes simple! We have a lot of kids to get dressed in a short period of time.
Please note…Friday, October 30th is NOT a rotation day. Monday, November 2nd, will be Music!
This weekend, daylight savings time will end! Don’t forget to turn your clocks back 1 hour! This also means that students are NO LONGER ALLOWED TO WEAR SHORTS TO SCHOOL!!!
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Monday, November 9th from 12:00-6:00. Please return all conference forms by Friday, October 30th.
Friday, November 13th will be the Kindergarten Field Trip! This year, we will be going to the Pearl Movie Theater in Frackville to see “The Peanuts Movie.” Please return your child’s permission slip if you haven’t done so already!
In order to help pay for parties and events held throughout the year, every student is asked to bring in $5. Please put the money in an envelope and make sure it is labeled with your child’s name, my name, and Party Money.
