Next week, we’ll begin Phonics, and learn about the letter Ll as in lion, lemon, and laugh. Show and Tell bags will be sent home on Tuesday. They should be returned on Friday.
We’ll also begin Math next week. Students will explore some of the manipulatives that we’ll be using this year in Math. We’ll also start learning about shapes.
In Reading, we’ll read the book “Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom."
Your child brought home their first “Book Buddy” book this week! This book should be read every night for a week. After you and your child read the book, please complete the September log. There is a spot to write the date, title, and your child can color a face depending on what they thought of the book! Don’t forget, any other books that you and your child read at home can be added to the reading log! Log as many books as you want! Please let me know if you have any “Book Buddy” questions. You can also refer to the blue “Book Buddy” letter that was in your child’s folder.
Our class had a TERRIFIC time at the pep rally today! I am so proud of their behavior. It’s great to see that they are proud to be Spartans!!!!
Try to make sure that your child has his/her bus tag every day. The end of the day is hectic and some children don’t know their bus numbers yet!
Please remember, last year we piloted 2 changes to the dress code (logos and plaid.) These changes were NOT approved, therefore LOGOS AND PLAID ARE NOT ALLOWED!
Keep practicing the 4 digit ID numbers with your child. Thank you to the parents who have already taught the number to their children :)
In an effort to “go green,” I will not be sending home paper copies of our weekly newsletter. Every newsletter will be posted on my blog (direction to access my blog are below) and also emailed to parents who supplied their email address. If you do not have internet access, please let me know so I can send you a paper copy!
Announcements, newsletters, and homework are posted on my blog weekly. I also try to include pictures of some of the fun things we are working on in school. You can visit my blog by going to www.northschuylkill.net, click on “Elementary” and then “Staff Emails and Homework Blogs.” Scroll down until you find Kindergarten and click on the word “Link” across from my name.
Students in grades Kindergarten-3rd will have their hearing tested on Thursday, September 10th.
There is no school on Monday, September 7th.
