Sept 14-18, 2015

This week, we’ll continue to learn about the letter Ll as in lion, lemon, and laugh. Please continue to practice identifying the letter Ll and its sound at home. On Friday, September 18th, we’ll have a small Luau as our culminating activity for the letter L. Students will receive a lei, have a tropical snack, and do some other fun activities. Dress code rules apply as normal! Students are not to dress up for the luau like in previous years!

In Math we’ll continue to learn about shapes (circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares.) Our essential question will be “How can shapes be named and described?”

In Reading, we’ll read the story, “The Little School Bus.” Our essential question will be “How do children get to school?” We will discuss the literary element, characters. We will also start to learn sight words! Be sure to watch your child’s folder for their first sight word list and study it every night! It will be tested Friday, September 18th.

Scholastic Book Club orders will be sent home next week and are due on Friday, September 18th. Orders can be placed online or sent to school.

Order forms for your child’s FREE NSE Field Trip T-shirt are due Sept. 18th!!!

Keep practicing the 4 digit ID numbers with your child. Thank you to the parents who have already taught the number to their children :)

Please check your child’s folder daily and remove all “KEEP” items. It becomes difficult to handle the folders with too many papers inside (for the students and teachers.)
