May 11-15

This week we'll finish learning our last letter, Qq.  On Monday, we'll attend the wedding of Q and U.  We will also be having Queen day this week for the letter Qq.  Please continue to practice letters and sounds at home.

In Math, we will move on to Topic 5, Numbers 0-20.  Our big question will be, “How can numbers to 20 be counted, written, and read?”

In Reading we’ll continue with Unit 3: Changes all around us and finish reading Little Quack. In this story five ducklings are hesitant to leave their cozy nest for the big pond. One by one, she manages to coax them into the water-first Widdle, next Waddle, then Piddle, and Puddle, but Little Quack can't be budged. After some convincing from his mother and his siblings, he dives in and-guess what- he loves it! We will be discussing doing new things. Students will learn about the literary element plot. Our question of the week will be “What new things can you do as you get older?”

According to the positive behavior plan, in May, students must have ALL green lights in order to participate in the monthly reward. This month the reward will be extra recess and a popsicle!! Please continue to remind your child of this at home and encourage good behavior.
