January 26-30, 2015

Next week in Phonics, we’ll finish learning about the letter Mm, as in monkey, money, and mouse. Please continue to practice all of the letters that we’ve learned (L, O, G, H, T, P, A, N.) Students need to bring in a piece of environmental print for the letter M on Friday!

In Math, we will learn more about the dime and practice counting by 10s. We’ll also review sorting and counting how many objects are in each group.

Next week in Reading we’ll finish The Little School Bus. Due to the early dismissal and delay we didn't get everything done. Sight Word Sticker books will come home on Monday since we didn't get to introduce them yet. Feel free to use these books to practice at home but put them back in the folder when you’re done. We will also start our next story, We Are So Proud! We’ll discuss the importance of working together with classmates. Our literary element for the story will be setting.

On Friday, we'll be graphing our class' predictions for the winner of the Super Bowl and if Phil will see his shadow on Monday!

Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, January 29th. Please sign and return the envelope only! The contents of the envelope are yours to keep!

Just a reminder, in January and February any student who has 3 or more red and/ or yellow stoplights will not participate in the monthly reward for the school wide positive behavior plan.

If you haven’t already returned your child’s yearbook picture form, please do so as soon as possible. PTO will be taking group pictures for the yearbook on Thursday, February 12th.

January Reading Logs are due February 2nd. Don’t forget, if your child reads 16 books in a month, they are entered to win a bike at the end of the year! Your child has the opportunity to earn 6 chances at the bike!

The 100th day of school is quickly approaching!! Special 100th day of school homework assignments will be sent home next week! As of right now, the 100th day of school is Tuesday, February 3rd.

February is Dental Health Month! Toothbrush chart will be sent home next week. Please help your child complete the chart next month. Students who return the chart will get a special treat!
