November 17- December 5, 2014

     Next week in Phonics, we’ll finish learning about the letter Pp as in pajamas, pumpkin, and pancakes!   This week we’ll be finding Environmental Print for the letters T and P!  Print is due on Friday!  Please review identifying the letters L, O, G, H, T, P and their sounds at home.
   
     In Math, we will continue to practice telling time to the hour.  We’ll also review ordinal positions and counting from 1-10.

     In Reading, we’ll continue with Chapter 3, All Around our Community.  Our story this week will be “A Day in the Life of a Firefighter.”  We will discuss who works in our community and what they do.  We will continue to practice answering questions about a book.  

        Thank you to all of the parents who attended parent teacher conferences!  I appreciate you taking the time to come in and discuss your child’s progress with me!

Our theme for the next 2 weeks will be Thanksgiving!

     The North Schuylkill Jr. Sr. Student Council is sponsoring the Feed A Friend project to help less fortunate families in Schuylkill County have an enjoyable Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.  In an effort to help those that are in need, I’m asking that each student bring in one non-perishable item to donate to the Feed A Friend project. Donations are due Monday, November 17th.

      On Tuesday, November 25th, you will find a letter to Santa in your child’s folder.  Please complete the letter with your child and return it by Tuesday, December 2nd.  We will mail the letters directly to Santa at the North Pole!  Students might even get a surprise letter back from Santa!!

     On Monday, November 24th, we will welcome Mrs. Clarissa Geary into our classroom to talk about Personal Body Safety.

On Tuesday, November 25th, we will have our monthly Guidance lesson with Mrs. Hull.  

     Wednesday, November 26th, students will be dismissed at 1:00 to begin Thanksgiving break!!  I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday!

Family and Friends are invited to attend the K-3 Christmas Concert which will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 4th in the North Schuylkill High School Auditorium. Students are asked to arrive at the high school (please use the doors at the gymnasium/ auditorium) between 6:15 and 6:30 PM. Teachers will be available to escort students to the gym.  Students need to be dressed in dress code OR BETTER! Girls may wear Christmas dresses, skirts, etc. Boys can wear shirts, ties, Christmas sweaters, etc. NO JEANS OR GYM CLOTHES!  Kindergarten will walk to the high school to practice for the concert the morning of December 4th.  Please be sure your child is wearing good walking shoes and dressed appropriately for the weather!  In the event of rain or snow, buses will be provided.
