December 8-12, 2014

Next week in Phonics, we’ll finish learning about the letter Aa as in apple, acorn, and alligator!   This week we’ll be finding Environmental Print for the letters A!  Print is due on Friday!  Please review identifying the letters L, O, G, H, T, P, A and their sounds at home.   

        In Math, we will learn about weighing objects and comparing their weights.  We will continue to practice AB patterns and also learn a new pattern, ABB.  Towards the end of the week, we will use a new math manipulative called a geoboard!    
In Reading, we’ll continue with Chapter 3, All Around our Community.  Our story this week will be “The Little Red Hen (Makes a Pizza.)”  We will discuss what we can do in our community.  We will continue to practice answering questions about a book.    

Thank you to all of the families and friends that attended the K-3 Christmas Concert on Thursday.  Our class was so excited to see so many people there to cheer them on!  Congratulations to all of the students for singing their hearts out!

Our theme for the next 2 weeks will be Christmas!  Most of our projects will be kept in school until closer to Christmas. 

        On Friday, December 12th, we will travel to the high school to watch the 4th-6th grade chorus and band perform their Christmas Concert.  Depending on the weather, we may have to walk so please dress your child for the weather and make sure they have on good walking shoes!

On Tuesday, December 23rd, we will be celebrating the story the “The Polar Express.”  Kindergarten students are invited to dress like the characters of the story by wearing their pajamas to school.  We will have hot chocolate, cookies, read the book “The Polar Express” by Chris Van Allsburg and watch the movie.
