October 27-31, 2014

Next week in Phonics, we’ll start learning about the consonant Tt as in tent, turtle, and turkey! There will not be Show and Tell next week. Please keep reviewing the letters L, O, G, H and their sounds at home.

In Math, we’ll practice ordering numbers and counting backwards from 10. We’ll also review positional words and practice identifying numbers.

In Reading, we will finish Unit 2, Meet My Family. We will read our next story, Antonio’s Birthday Fiesta. We’ll practice answering questions about a story and determining the meaning of unknown words. We will also identify similarities and differences.

Please be sure to send in $5 for your child’s Halloween and Valentine’s Day parties if you haven’t done so already.

Our theme next week will be Halloween! We will finish up the week with our Halloween Party and Parade on Friday, October 31st. Students are invited to bring their costume to school in a bag marked with their name. They will change into their costume before the parade with the help of teachers. Please keep in mind that we have many students to get dressed in a short amount of time so please keep the costumes simple (no spraying hair, full face makeup, etc.) Family and Friends are invited to come see our Halloween Parade on Friday. The parade will take place in the bus loop in front of the school beginning at 2:00. The parade usually draws a large crowd so plan to be here early to get a good spot!

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, November 10th. Please return your conference forms as soon as possible (if you haven’t already.) Spots are filling up quickly! Please note…. Since conferences were moved to Monday, November 10th, students now have a full day of school on Friday, November 14th.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week. Students will participate in a coloring contest and are encouraged to dress according to the theme each day. Please see the information in your child’s folder today.

Don’t forget to return your child’s Library book on Wednesday so they can get a new book!

We go outside for recess almost every day so please dress your child for the weather; coats, hats, gloves, and scarves! Any students who come to school without a coat will not be allowed outside for recess. Also, please help your child practice putting their coats on themselves and zipping/ buttoning them. Thank you!

Please note…. This year the K-3 Christmas Concert will be held at NIGHT, not during the school day. The concert will take place on December 4th at 7 PM in the North Schuylkill High School Auditorium.
