October 13-17, 2014

Next week in Phonics, we’ll start learning another new letter!  Our next letter will be the consonant Hh as in hat, happy, and Halloween!  Show and Tell bags will come home on Tuesday.  Please return them on Friday.  Keep reviewing the letters L, O, G and their sounds at home.

In Math, we’ll continue to practice ordinal positions, numbers 1-10, and patterns.  Our new concept for the week will be money!  Students will be introduced to the penny!

In Reading, we will continue with Unit 2, Meet My Family.  Our Big Question for the week will be “How do family members care for one another?”  We will continue to read the book, Oonga Boonga.  Students will be learning about sequence.  We will also practice onset and rime.

Thursday was the Kindergarten Fall Festival and it was a HUGE success thanks to all of the parents who helped.  Students got to make fall crafts, taste some fall foods, and even go on a hayride!

Reminder: There is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, October 13th.

On Thursday, October 16th, students will participate in a “Shake Out Drill.”  Students will practice how to do “Drop, Cover, and Hold.”

If you were not happy with your child’s school pictures or if your child was absent, retakes will be done on October 23rd.

Kindergarteners may shop at the School Store on Mondays.  Students do NOT come to the classroom before shopping so it’s important that you explain to your child where their money is and that they need to stop before coming to our room.

Don’t forget to return your child’s Library book on Tuesday so they can get a new book!

Please note…. This year the K-3 Christmas Concert will be held at NIGHT, not during the school day.  The concert will take place on December 4th at 7 PM in the North Schuylkill High School Auditorium.
