Next week, we’ll move on to our next letter, the vowel Oo! We’ll learn about its short sound, like in octopus, otter, and owl. Please review L and O at home. Show and Tell Bags will come home on Monday. Please return it on Friday!
In Math we’ll start to learn about shapes (circles and rectangles.) We’ll also work on graphing and position words.
In Reading, we’ll read the story, “Oscar is Cold.” We’ll be discussing how friends help each other. We’ll learn about uppercase letters and blending and segmenting!
Since the weather is getting cooler, please be sure to dress your child properly. We go outside for recess almost every day and some students have been complaining because they don’t have a jacket or sweater. Also, please be sure to write your child’s name in their coats, sweaters, book bags, lunch bags, etc. Items are being lost because Kindergarten students don’t know if it’s theirs. It makes things much easier if there is a name on it
The Kindergarten Fall Festival will be held on Thursday, October 9th.We are asking that each child please give $4.00 for the Fall Festival! The money is needed to buy supplies to make the day extra special for our Kindergarten students. There will be a meeting for any parents, or grandparents that would like to help on Wednesday, September 17th at 6:30 at the Mineshaft in Ashland. Just a reminder, the Fall Festival is not a PTO event so anyone who has clearances may help! If you can’t make the meeting, there is a Facebook Page (North Schuylkill 2014 Fall Festival) and also an email address set up (NSfallfestival2014@hotmail.com.) If you’re interested, send an email to that address and you will be added to the list to receive all updates about the Fall Festival!
Some students still do not know their 4 digit numbers! These numbers are used for lunch, library, computer class, etc. It is very important that your child learn their number! Every child’s number is on the front of the folder. Please practice at home!
Please check your child’s folder daily and remove all “Left at Home” items. It becomes difficult to handle the folders with too many papers inside (for the students and teachers.)
If you have not already returned the order form for your child’s FREE Field Trip T-shirt, please do so ASAP—orders are due Sept. 19th!!!
We will get our 1st Library books next week! (We have Library on Tuesday!)
