April 14-17

This week in Phonics, we will begin a new letter!  Our new letter will be Bb as in bike, bat, and ball!  Please continue to review the letter flashcards in your child’s folder.  Show and Tell bags are coming home today.  Please note that Show and Tell will be on Thursday.

In Math, we’ll continue to explore tangrams.  We’ll also practice graphing using a pictograph.

In Reading, we’ll read Mayday, Mayday!: A Coast Guard Rescue!  In this book the United States Coast Guard leaps into action when they hear a call for help. A team of four highly trained rescue specialists head out in an H-60 Jayhawk helicopter. Battling fierce conditions, the Coast Guard team finally locates the disabled boat, rescues the crew, treats injured passengers, and carries them back to safety.  We will be discussing emergency transportation.  Students will learn about cause and effect.

Students will be completing lots of Easter activities this week and having an egg hunt on Thursday. Don’t forget there is no school for students Friday, April 18th

Our field trip will be held on May 28th (rain date May 29th) and we’ll be visiting the Pioneer Tunnel in Ashland!
