Next week in Phonics, we will be starting a new letter. Our new letter will be the vowel Aa, and we’ll learn its sound as in apple, alligator, and ant. Please continue to review the letter flashcards in your child’s folder.
In Math, we will review numbers 0-10, Geoboards, counting, and ABB patterns. We’ll also learn about a new coin, the dime!

In Reading, we’ll finish up Unit 2 and read “Whose Garden is It?” The gardener says the garden belongs to him but the woodchuck insists that it's his! And so do the rabbit, the butterfly, the squash bug, and the bumblebee! Even the tiny seeds and whistling weeds think the garden just couldn't grow without them. As they stroll through the plants and flowers, Mrs. McGee and her child listen and wonder: Whose garden is it? We will be discussing gardens. Students will learn about realism and fantasy.
There is no school for students on Monday, January 20th.
We have been trying to get outside for recess whenever possible. PLEASE make sure your child is dressing appropriately for the weather! Hats, scarves, gloves, and heavy coats are a must!
The 2nd marking period will end next week. Report cards will be sent home sometime the week of January 20th.
Thank you to all of the families that made donations for the soldiers in Afghanistan. We have about 8 large boxes of supplies to be shipped to them!
