In Math, we’ll introduce triangles and squares. We will also continue to work on sorting and patterns.
In Reading, we will read a new story, “Dig, Dig, Digging.” In this story, students will learn that trucks, tractors, fire engines and helicopters all work very hard! But, after a long, happy day of beep-beeping and vroom-vrooming, even the hardest working machines need to rest. We will discuss how machines help people.
Our theme for next week will be pumpkins! We’ll do lots of fun activities involving pumpkins.
Last week we had a pajama party on Wednesday! Thank you to all the parents who allowed their children to wear pajamas to school! We did lots of fun activities! We ate pancakes, made cereal necklaces, read stories, and made pussy willow paintings! It was a great day!
Thursday was the Kindergarten Fall Festival and it was a HUGE success thanks to all of the parents who helped. Students got to make fall crafts, taste some fall foods, and even go on a hayride! Congratulations to Bethany Loftus (Kdg) and Ashley Hepler (4th) for winning the “Guess How Many” game. A special thank you to the following individuals and organizations that made donations to our special day:
* Hart Farms of Ringtown for their donations of pumpkins
*Mr. Bob Burns and Mr. Jim McAndrew for letting us use their tractor and wagon for the hayride
*Boyer’s Grocery Store, Frackville, for donating cookies
*Hillshire Farms (Sara Lee) for their donation of hot dogs
*American Hose Co, Fountain Springs for bringing a fire truck
*American Legion of Mahanoy City for their monetary donation

Information was sent home on Thursday about parent teacher conferences. Instead of giving a report card, we will be holding conferences on November 18th to discuss the new report card and your child’s progress in Transitional Kindergarten. Please return the conference form as soon as possible.
Our Halloween Party and Parade will be held on Thursday, October 31st. Students are invited to bring their costume to school in a bag marked with their name. They will change into their costume before the parade with the help of teachers and homeroom parents. Please keep in mind that we have many students to get dressed in a short amount of time so please keep the costumes simple (no spraying hair, full face makeup, etc.) Family and Friends are invited to come see our Halloween Parade on Thursday. The parade will take place in the bus loop in front of the school.
Some students still do not know their 4 digit numbers! These numbers are used for lunch, library, computer class, etc. It is very important that your child learn their number! Every child’s number is on the front of the folder. Please practice at home!

The School Store will open on October 21st. Kindergarteners may only shop on Mondays. Students do NOT come to the classroom before shopping so it’s important that you explain to your child where their money is and that they need to stop before coming to our room.
Don’t forget to return your child’s Library book on Wednesday so they can get a new book!
If you were not happy with your child’s school pictures or if your child was absent, retakes will be done on November 1st.
