Most
of the students in our class are now able to identify capital L, lowercase l,
and know the sound that it makes! Yay!!
This is great news!! I am SO proud of
every one of my students for working SO hard!
We are now ready to move on to a new letter! Next week, we’ll start to learn about the
vowel Oo and its short sound like in octopus, otter, and owl. Show and Tell bags will come home on Monday
and should be returned on Friday.
In Math we’ll continue to practice one to one correspondence along with counting to 10. We will continue to sing songs to help us learn how to write numbers! Ask your children to sing these songs at home! They really enjoy them!

In
Reading, we’ll read the story, “Plaidypus Lost” and talk about how families
cooperate.
Our
class will be using a new stoplight worksheet in our folders starting next
week. The worksheets will be in the
center of your child’s folder and will be changed monthly instead of weekly. If your child is in yellow or red there will
be a separate note in the “Left at Home” side of their folder.
Anyone interested in helping with the
Kindergarten Fall Festival is invited to a meeting at the Mineshaft, on Sunday,
September 22nd at 5:30. In
order to help at the Fall Festival you must have clearances. The Fall Festival will be held on Thursday, October
17th (no rain date.) This is not a PTO
event so you do not have to be a PTO member to help.
Please
check your child’s folder daily and remove all “Left at Home” items. It becomes difficult to handle the folders
with too many papers inside (for the students and teachers.)
Kindergarteners
will get hearing screenings on Tuesday, September 24th.
