When we return from Christmas vacation we’ll be learning about the letter K as in kite, kangaroo, and king in Phonics. On Friday, January 4th the boys will have King Day (girls have to wait for the letter Q to be Queens!) Word List 7 will come home on Wednesday, January 2nd but will not be tested until Friday, January 11th.
In Reading we’ll be reading “Little Quack.” In this story five ducklings are hesitant to leave their cozy nest for the big pond. One by one, she manages to coax them into the water-first Widdle, next Waddle, then Piddle, and Puddle, but Little Quack can't be budged. After some convincing from his mother and his siblings, he dives in and-guess what- he loves it! We will be discussing doing new things. Students will learn about the literary element plot. Please be sure to review your Family Times when it comes home. There are LOTS of great activities for you to do with your child!
In Math we’ll practice ABB patterns. Students will be introduced to a new coin, the dime. We will count dimes and pay for items up to $.50.
After Christmas vacation students will be asked to print their first and last name on everything that we complete in school. Please encourage your child to write both on their homework too!
Thank you to all of the parents that attended the K-2 Christmas Concert on Monday. Our students were so excited to see so many people there to cheer them on! Congratulations to all of our students for singing their hearts out!
Santa visited our classroom this week and gave every student a candy cane!
We had a great time today on our “Polar Express” ride! We had hot chocolate, cookies, and watched the movie. “Conductor Potts” punched all of our tickets and at the end of the day everyone found a bell in their cubby!
