Kindergarten News: November 12-16

In Phonics, we will be studying the short vowel sound of “Ii” as in igloo, iguana, and ill. Students continue to do a GREAT job on the word lists! I can tell that they are practicing at home! Please practice Phonics Word List 3. It will be tested Friday, November 16th.

In Reading, we’ll be reading “Bear Snores On.” In this story, an itty-bitty mouse sneaks into a sleeping bear's cozy lair, looking for relief from the bitter winter weather. Soon he is joined by a group of woodland animals, and the party begins while the bear sleeps through it all! We’ll be learning about realism and fantasy and we’ll also discuss hibernation.

In Math, we will learn how to write money amounts and also learn about using money to pay for things. We’ll also continue to practice numbers and counting.

If you haven’t done so already, please sign and return your child’s report card as soon as possible.

PTO is selling pink bracelets at the school store for $1. The proceeds of this sale will benefit one of our NSE teachers who is battling breast cancer. If you would like to purchase bracelets please send the money in an envelope with your child’s name, the amount, and “bracelets.” Your support of this cause is greatly appreciated!

If you haven’t sent in your child’s party money ($5) yet please do so as soon as possible. This money will pay for the Halloween and Valentine’s Day parties.

The North Schuylkill Jr. Sr. Student Council is sponsoring the Feed A Friend project to help less fortunate families in Schuylkill County have an enjoyable Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. In an effort to help those that are in need, I’m asking that each student bring in one non-perishable item to donate to the Feed A Friend project.

Thank you to all of the parents who attended Kindergarten Parent Teacher conferences!

Since the weather is getting cooler, please have your child practice putting their coats on themselves and zipping/ buttoning them. Thank you!

Please remember that since we change the clocks last weekend shorts may NOT be worn to school. Thank you!

Wednesday, November 21st is an early dismissal for students. Students will be dismissed at 1:00.

The email address for the school cookbook that PTO is making is: nseptorecipes@yahoo.com. It was difficult to read on the paper that was sent home.

On Friday, November 16th we will be having our Guidance Lesson on Personal Body Safety with Mrs. Clarissa Geary.
