Phonics:
Letter of the Week: Kk as in kite, king, and kangaroo!
Letters that we’ve learned: Ll, Oo, Gg, Hh, Tt, Pp, Aa, Nn, Mm, Ii, Ss, Ff, Rr
There will be no Show and Tell for the letter Kk.  Instead we will have King Day on Friday!  The boys will get to wear crowns and be “kings” while the girls have to wait on them!  The roles will be reversed when we learn Qq and the girls get to be queens!
Math:
Topic: 4- Comparing and Ordering numbers 0-10
Essential Question: How can numbers from 0 to 10 be ordered and compared?
 Reading:
Story: Little Panda (we didn’t get a chance to start Little Panda last week so we’ll try again this week!)  
Essential Question: How does a panda change in its first year of life?  
Literary Element: Compare and Contrast
Sight Words: I, am, at, little, the (Please note, since students have been struggling with the sight word lists, we went back to the beginning and are starting all over again.  Please focus on these 5 sight words when practicing at home!  New flash cards were sent home last week!)

February is Dental Health month!  Brushing charts were sent home.  Children are encouraged to brush their teeth twice a day and keep track on their chart.  Any student who returns their completed chart at the end of the month will receive a prize!

It’s time to start preparing for NSE’s 3rd annual Chinese Auction!  Our class’ basket theme will be “Household Products” (cleaning supplies, plates, napkins, paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, Ziploc bags, paper cups, plastic utensils, garbage bags etc.)  More information will be sent home about the class’ basket.   The auction will be held at NSE on Saturday April 16th and Sunday April 17th.  You may “Shop and Drop” from 10:30 to 5:00 on Saturday and 12:00-3:00 on Sunday.  The auction will start promptly at 3:00 on Sunday. Every student will receive a free sheet of tickets if they attend the auction. Donations of prizes are greatly appreciated!! Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather!  Coats, hats, and gloves!  We go outside almost every day unless it’s raining!  

On Friday, February 26th, we’ll be having our monthly behavior reward.  This month’s reward will be that students can bring a toy from home to play with during recess.  Students who earned the reward will bring a note home with them on Thursday.  If your child does not bring home a note, they did not earn the reward.

** When there is a snow day, we do not skip a day. For example, if there is a snow day on Tuesday and we were supposed to have Library, we’ll have Library on Wednesday, or whenever we return to school.
