In
Phonics next week, we will be
learning “Tt” as in tent, tail, and telephone. Students will be asked to memorize their
telephone numbers for the letter T! I am
so proud of how well the class is doing with learning the letters and their
sounds. Students are also doing a great
job blending letters and reading short words!
This week in Reading we read Miss
Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten. In the book Miss
Bindergarten’s Kindergarteners leave their classroom and visit different places
in their community. Next week will begin the story Julius. Our class will discuss how people and animals
work and play together. We will continue
to discuss characters, settings, sequence, and classifying. There will be 2 new sight words: a, to.
In
Math we will identify,
describe, and compare circles and rectangles. Students will also continue to practice
numbers and counting to 100!
Everybody is doing a great job with
the All About Me books! Everyone loves reading their book to the
class and we love learning about our classmates! Most of the class has come out of their
“shell” and are making friends with each other.
I was so happy to see that most of the class listed their classmates as
their friends!!!
Students brought home their first Library book last Monday. These books need to come back to school on Monday for Library class and then
they’ll get new books to bring home.
Next
week, we will be celebrating the birthday of Johnny Appleseed. We will be
working on apple activities all week. In
order to complete some of the projects I am asking that each child bring in ONE APPLE on Monday! The apple can be any color and size. On Friday we will use all the apples to make
applesauce!
The
Kindergarten Fall Festival will be
held on Thursday, October 11th. Each student is asked to bring in $3 to help pay for supplies for the
day. Please send the money in an
envelope with your child’s name, teacher, and FALL FESTIVAL labeled on it. The Fall Festival is being planned and
parents need to money to buy supplies so please send the money to school as
soon as possible. Thank you!
Thursday, September 27th
there will be a meeting for any parents or grandparents interested in helping
at the Fall Festival. The meeting will be held at the pavilion
behind North Schuylkill Elementary at 6:00.
As the weather starts to get cooler please send your child to school with a coat. We go outside for recess everyday (unless
it’s raining) and some students have been complaining that they are cold on
cooler days. Also, please write your child’s name in their coat. Many Kindergarten students are having a hard
time keeping track of their coats.
The School Store will open next week. Kindergarteners
may only shop on Mondays.
Students do NOT come to the classroom before shopping so it’s important
that you explain to your child where their money is and that they need to stop
before coming to our room.
There are still a few students who do not know
their 4 digit ID number. It is very hard to go through the lunch line,
log on the computers, and check books out of the Library when they don’t know
their numbers. The number is on the
front of their folder under their name.
