Field Trip/ Carnival Reminders


Field Trip Information
Thursday, May 24th will be the Kindergarten field trip to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus at the Giant Center in Hershey, PA

Students may come to school by their normal means but chaperones need to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. We will be leaving promptly at 8:45. We will return at approximately 2:30 pm.

All students and chaperones who did not order a lunch from the school need to bring a bagged lunch and drink. Students’ names should be on their lunch.

Students will not need money on this field trip. The cost for chaperones is $12.

We ask that students wear their blue North Schuylkill Elementary t-shirt with dress code appropriate pants or shorts.

If your child suffers from motion sickness please take the necessary precautions such as giving Dramamine, or making sure he/she had breakfast before riding the bus.

Carnival Reminder
Friday, May 25th is the Carnival. All students are permitted to wear gym clothes. Please be sure your child wears sneakers and sunscreen!

Graduation Reminders

*Kindergarten graduation will take place in the High School Auditorium at 6:00 on Tuesday, May 22nd.

* All students must wear a white collared shirt. Girls should not wear anything in their hair since they will be wearing caps.

*The doors to the high school will NOT be opened until 5:30.

*Kindergarten students should arrive at the High School Gymnasium between 5:30 and 5:45. We ask that parents do NOT enter the gymnasium.

*Please do NOT stand in the center aisles during the ceremony. You may stand in the aisles along the wall to take pictures or video.

* At the end of Graduation all students will leave the stage and process to the Gymnasium. PLEASEDO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD OUT OF THE LINE and DO NOT LEAVE THE GYMNASIUM UNTIL ALL GRADUATES HAVE EXITED.

*Each class will have a designated area in gymnasium. Look for a sign with your child’s teacher’s name.

*All students must return their cap and gown to their child’s teacher before leaving the gymnasium. The dated tassels are your child’s to keep.

Kindergarten News

This will be the last newsletter for the school year!

In the next 2 weeks, in Reading,we will complete Unit 6, Building our Homes. We will be reading The House That Tony Lives In and Animal Homes.In Phonics we will be learning the digraphs ch, ee, or, ar, and er.

The School Store is closed for the school year!

Please return all Library books if you haven’t already done so!

There will be no homework for the remainder of the year!

Today we walked to the high school to watch the band and chorus perform their spring concert. We really enjoyed it! The 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students did an excellent job!

On Tuesday, students and teachers got a chance to participate and watch our favorite game show, Brainshow Mania! Thank you to the PTO for bringing such a fun program to NSE!

Next week is going to be a VERY busy week. Here is our schedule:
Monday: Walk to the high school to practice for Graduation (wear good walking shoes!)

Tuesday: Walk to the high school to practice for Graduation (wear good walking shoes!) Graduation will be held at 6:00 on Tuesday, May 22nd in the High School Auditorium. A detailed note will be sent home on Monday about graduation but please note that all students need to wear a white collared shirt!

Wednesday: Kindergarten students will watch the Kindergarten DVD and also have a special end of the year treat with their reading buddies!
 
Thursday: Field Trip to the Circus (Reminder note will be sent home on Wednesday with all the details.)

Friday: Carnival (Students will spend the majority of the day outside so please dress for the weather. All students may wear gym clothes and sneakers! Don’t forget sunscreen!)

Kindergarten News: May 14-18



Next week, in Reading,we will continue with Unit 6, Building our Homes.  We will be reading The Night Worker and will discuss plot.   In Phonics we will be learning the sneaky e rule as in cake, rope, and cube.  We have completed all of our Math lessons for the year!  Please continue to practice counting by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s with your child!  We will review time, money, addition, and subtraction next week!

Next week is the last week for homework!

Today wasTeens Against Tobacco: Kick Butts Day.  Students participated in fun activities with high school students to reinforce the importance of not using tobacco.  

Tuesday, May 14th, students will get a chance to participate and watch their friends play Brainshow Mania! 

On Friday, May 18th, we’ll walk to the high school to see the band and chorus perform their Spring Concert.  Please make sure that your child wears good walking shoes! 

Kindergarten Graduation will be held at 6:00 on Tuesday, May 22nd in the High School Auditorium.  Details will be sent home at a later date.

Our Field Trip will be on Thursday, May 24th.  We will be attending the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus in Hershey at the Giant Center!
