Kindergarten News: March 12-16

Next week in Reading we will continue with Unit 5, Going Places.  We will be reading the story Mayday! Mayday! and discussing different forms of emergency transportation.  Students will review the consonant X and also discuss cause and effect.  In Phonics we will be learning about the consonant “Xx” as in fox, box, and ax.  There will be no show and tell this week.  Students will be going on a treasure hunt for the letter X!   Word List 14 will be tested Friday, March 16th.  In Math, we’ll start using tangrams!  We’ll sort the pieces according to sizes (small, medium, and large) and also explore slides, flips, and turns.  We will also start measuring using nonstandard units.

Thank you to all the parents that read the newspaper with their children this week! Congratulations to all of the Kindergarten students who found our ad in the paper!   “I’m A Reader” contracts need to be returned by Monday, March 12th.

Kindergarten Graduation pictures will be taken March 30th.  All students need to wear a white collared shirt for pictures!  Package information is in your child’s folder today.

Our Field Trip will be on Thursday, May 24th.  We will be attending the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus in Hershey at the Giant Center!

Don’t forget to wear green on Friday for St. Patrick’s Day!
