Kindergarten News: January 17-20

There is no school for students Monday January 16.  There will also be a half day for students on Friday, January 27.  Students will be dismissed at 11:45.

Next week in Reading we will finish Unit 3, and read the story Hide Clyde!  We will be discussing changing for protection.  Students will learn about main idea.  In Phonics we will be learning the short sound of the vowel “Uu” as in umbrella, uncle, and under.  Since “U” words can be hard to find we will skip Show and Tell and do United States reports instead.  Please see the note in your child’s folder today for more information.  Due to the 2 hour delay we did not have time to test Word List 8.  It will be tested on Friday, January 20.  Please continue to review Word List 8 at home.   In Math, we will continue to learn about the numbers 0-20.  We will continue learning about wood next week in Science.  Students will become familiar with different kinds of wood, learn their names, and observe how they are alike and different.

We have been trying to take Kindergarten students outside for recess whenever we can.  Please make sure that your child is dressed properly.

On Wednesday, we’ll have a guidance lesson with our guidance counselor Mrs. Hull.

We will be finishing assessments for the 2nd marking period report cards next week.   Report Cards will be sent home on Friday, January 20.
