We have finished the 2nd week of Kindergarten and our students are adjusting very well!
Last week we learned to recognize and write the letter “L.” Due to school being closed on Thursday our Luau will be on Friday, September 16th! Students are asked to dress tropical: bright colors, floral prints, Hawaiian shirts, etc. Please remember this is only for Kindergarten students! Next week our letter will be “O” as in octopus.Show and tell for the letter “O” will also be Friday. Please practice the letters L and O at home.
This week inReadingwe read Fix It Duck. The class really enjoyed this story about Fix It Duck who really can’t fix much of anything! Next week we will be reading Plaidypus Lost. Watch for your Family Times newsletter to come home with details about the story and skills we will be working on in Reading.
In Mathwe will be learning about patterns, shapes, graphs, positional words, and counting. Kindergarten students should be able to count to 100 by the end of the year so please practice this skill at home J
This week we began a Science unit called Trees. We will observe and compare the trees around our school through the seasons.
Students are doing a great job with snack and lunch! Thank you so much for all of your help! We do have a peanut butter allergy in our classroom so please make your child aware if they are bringing peanut butter to school with them! Thank you J
Last week, our class met their 4th grade reading buddies from Ms.Burda’s 4th grade class. Reading buddies will visit our class every Friday and read to our Kindergarten students.
All about me posters will start coming home next week. This poster will help students get to know each other better. Please complete this poster with your child and return it to school by the due date. Be creative when completing this project, use pictures, stickers, markers, etc.
Please be sure to encourage your child to write their name the proper way. Students should not write their name in all capitals. We understand that some students need practice writing it the correct way but the first step in helping is making sure we are consistent at home and at school.
Next week is also the school book fair. Students will be able to buy books on Wednesday, September 14th. If you would like your child to purchase books at the book fair please send money in an envelope with your child’s name, my name, the amount of money, and Book Fair on it.
