Kindergarten News: March 14-18

Next week in Reading we will continue Unit 4 Let’s Explore. We will be reading the story If You Could Go To Antarctica. We will discuss adventures in Antarctica. Students will review the vowel Ee and talk about classifying and categorizing.

In Phonics we will be learning about the consonant “Xx” as in fox, box, and ax. There will be no show and tell this week. Students will be going on a treasure hunt for the letter X! Word List 16 will be tested Friday, March 18th.

In math, we will continue to work with Nickels and paying for items up to $0.50. We will also be practicing ABC patterns, dividing by sharing, and comparing numbers. Some students are having a hard time counting by 5’s so please be sure to practice at home.

Today we began our last Science unit, “Animals Two by Two.” Our first investigation focused on our new class pets; goldfish and guppies. Next week we will be studying snails!

A big “thank you” to all the parents that read the newspaper with their children this week! “I’m A Reader” contracts need to be returned by Tuesday, March 15th. Congratulations to all of the Kindergarten students who found our ad in the paper! If anybody didn’t find the ad yet I will be collecting them until Monday.

Reminder: The school store is open to Kindergarten students on Mondays!
