Please note… There IS school for students on Friday, February 18th. This was originally scheduled to be an Act 80 day but we are using it as a snow day make up day. There is NO school on Monday, February 21st.
Next week in Reading we will begin Unit 4, Let’s Explore. We will be reading the story Bunny Day. We discuss adventures and students will learn about the consonant “H” and sequence.
In Phonics we will be learning about the consonant “Yy” as in yak, yo-yo, and yellow. Since “Y” words can be hard to come by we will skip show and tell this week. Word List 12 will come home today and be tested Friday, February 18th. Most students did a TERRIFIC job on Word List 11. It was one of the best yet! Keep up the good work!
In math, we will be covering a variety of topics including shapes, problem solving, money, seasons, and pictographs.
We will continue with our Science unit on Wood and Paper. This week we discussed the properties of paper. We also talked about how we can help save trees by recycling paper.
This week we celebrated bully prevention week. Students really enjoyed the fun activities that we did and the programs with Diane Buhl and Sheriff Groody.

Our Valentine’s Day party will be held on Monday, February 14th from 2:00-3:00. We will be having a snack, playing a game, and making a craft. Students are also invited to share valentines with their classmates. Please be sure that your child brings in their Valentine’s on Monday if they haven’t already done so!
