Next week in Reading we will continue with Unit 3, and read the story See How We Grow. We will be discussing children changing as they grow. Students will learn about the consonants D and K, and cause and effect.
In Phonics we will be learning the short sound of the vowel “Uu” as in umbrella, uncle, and under. Since “U” words can be hard to find we will skip show and tell this week. Word List 9 is coming home today and will be tested Friday, January 29th. We will be skipping this week due to the snow day and delay.
In math, we will start a few new concepts: Sharing a whole by separating it into two equal parts; solving a problem by guessing and checking; and comparing sets of objects and numbers.
We have been continuing with our new Science unit on Wood and Paper. This week we learned about the properties of wood and learned how to use those properties to change wood.
The first day of the 3rd Marking Period is Thursday, January, 20th. Report Cards will be sent home on Monday, January 24th.
On Thursday, January 20th, we will be attending the Rand Whipple Box of Lights presentation in the gym.
