Kindergarten News: December 6-10, 2010

This week we will we continue our unit “Animals Live Here” and reading the story A Bed for the Winter. We will be discussing winter homes. Students will learn about sequencing and the vowel Ii. We will be adding 2 new sights words (he, for) so please be sure that your child’s sight word flash cards are in their folder next week. Please be sure to review your Family Times when it comes home on Monday. There are LOTS of great activities for you to do with your child!

In phonics we will be learning the consonant “Ff” as in fish, flower, and fun! Everybody is really trying their best on the word lists and I am proud of the progress that they are making! Word List 5 is coming home today and will be tested on Friday, December 10th.

In math, we will continue to learn about AB and ABB Patterns. Students will also have the opportunity to start working with Geoboards!

December book orders are due Friday, December 10th. If there is anything that “Santa” would like to purchase for a Christmas present please send me a note and I will send it home in a bag.

School Store is CLOSED until January due to Santa’s Workshop.

Family and Friends are invited to attend the Christmas Concert which will be held Monday, December 13th at 9:30 in the North Schuylkill High School Auditorium. Kindergarteners have been practicing their songs and are very excited to share them with you!

Santa’s Workshop is a chance for students to do Christmas shopping in school. Our day to shop was Wednesday but if you forgot to send in money please send with your child as soon as possible.

Please remember that we have Library on Wednesdays. Students need to bring back their Library book every Wednesday if they want to exchange it for a new one.
