Next week in reading we will continue the unit, “Animals Live Here.” We are going to be reading the story Animal Babies in Grasslands and will talk about grassland animals. We will focus on the consonant “Pp” and also discuss the main idea of the story. There will also be 2 new sight words next week (my, like.) Please send in your child’s sight word flash cards so we can add the new words. If their flash cards are not in their folder we will put the new cards in a sleeve of their folder.
In Phonics will we will be studying the short vowel sound of “Ii” as in igloo, iguana, and ill.Students continue to do a GREAT job on the word lists!I can tell that they are practicing at home!Please practice Phonics Word List3 this week and the beginning of next week.Due to the short week and the holiday, it will be tested Tuesday, November 23rd.
Students will continue to practice number identification and ordinal positions in math.We will also introduce time.Students will practice telling time to the nearest hour.
We will also continue learning about Thanksgiving.On Tuesday, November 16th students will participate in a webcast called “The First Thanksgiving.”Students will get to meet a Pilgrim and a Wampanoag—straight from Plymouth Plantation!
There are still a few students who have no returned their report cards.PLEASE sign and return report cards as soon as possible.
The North Schuylkill Jr. Sr. Student Council is sponsoring the Feed A Friend project to help less fortunate families in Schuylkill County have an enjoyable Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.In an effort to help those that are in need, I’m asking that each student bring in one non perishable item to donate to the Feed A Friend project.We will deliver our class’ collection to the drop off bin in the main lobby on Tuesday, November 16th.Thank for your help!
On Thursday, we had our monthly Guidance Lesson.This month we welcomed Mrs. Clarissa Geary into our classroom to talk about Personal Body Safety.Please be sure to ask your child what they learned from Mrs. Geary.
Please remember that we have Library on Wednesdays.Students need to bring back their Library book every Wednesday if they want to exchange it for a new one.

Next week in reading we will continue our new unit, “Animals Live Here” with the story “Armadillo’s Orange.” We will focus on the consonant “Ss” and also discuss the setting of the story.
In Phonics will we will be studying the consonant “Mm” as in monkey, money, and music. Students did a GREAT job on the first word list! I can tell that they are practicing at home! Please practice Phonics Word List 2 this week and it will be tested next Friday, November 12th. Students will be introduced to the penny in Math next week. We will also continue to work with shapes and numbers 0-10.
Report Cards are in your child’s folder today. Please sign and return them to school as soon as possible.
